44 Days of Witchery Day 9

9. A favourite mythological animal.

Off the top of my head, my favourite mythological animal that comes to mind is the phoenix. Arising from its ashes, the rebirth of soul. It symbolizes fix, new beginnings, rebirth, life, death, mystery, magick. It can carry immense loads and heal with its tears. It embodies persistence, drive, healing. It encompasses all that I am and all that I wish to be.

Day 8 of Witchery

8. A photo of a magical place outdoors.

The Enchanted Forest, Oberursel, Germany

I sincerely love being outdoors. Especially at night, where as I posted in Day 1, I draw power from the darkness. Considering that my paternal ancestry originating from Germany, this forest could definitely be just the magickal place that I’ve always been looking for. Simply Lovely.

Day 7 of Witchery

7. Air Element

The element of Air is a very precarious one indeed. It is the most obvious to most people of the elements that we need to survive. It is our breathe. Air has the qualities of both fire and water. It can be hot and dry or cool and wet, cool and dry or hot and wet. Air is all around us, we are never without.

Day 6 of Witchery

6. A Favourite God

As posted with Day 5, I don’t pick favorites. I don’t neccesarially have a patron god, but the one that I do the most work with lately is Odin, the Norse god of wisdom.

Day 5 of Witchery

5. A Favourite Goddess

I do not pick favorites. All goddesses are equal and uh-mazing. I do have a matron goddess however. One that I do most of my workings with. Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt and the moon.

Day 4 of Witchery

4. Picture of Element (Water)

Water is a wonderful element for those seeking change. It’s a very fluid influence. A sanctified cup of water, an ocean„ a stream, a lake, or a pond.

Day 3 of Witchery

3.   Witchy tools: athame.

The use of the athame as a representation of air or fire is as varied as the differences in Paganism. I believe that the athame is the representation of Fire. It was born in the flame, forged in fire.

Day 2 of Witchery

2. A myth or story from folklore.

Lately, I have been focusing the bulk of my studies on Norse Mythos. And so far, the most interesting story that I have come across is that of Haiti and Skoll.

Haiti and Skoll are brothers, and the sons of Fenrir (which makes them the grandchildren of Loki). Haiti spends every night running through the sky chasing Mani (the moon), while Skoll spends every day chasing Sol (the sun). This is a seemingly fruitless quest, until…

One day, Haiti and Skoll will succeed in their quests, thus ushering in the start of Ragnorak.

Day 1 of Witchery

1. What’s your Witchy background?

I’m trying to find my way in this world. Looking for guidance and support, knowledge and direction.

I currently follow my own solitary path. I’m a bit of an Eclectic. I’d say it’s definitely unique mix of Celtic, Wicca, Greek, Asatru, Native American, and Buddhist. Personally, I just do what feels comfortable in the moment. I know that what I follow is not what’s important, only that I do my best to honor the God and Goddess, and to help out Gaea.

I was born into a Pentecostal family. By age ten I had realised that living a life under the wing of Christianity was not something that I wanted to do and by 15, I left the church. I tried the agnostic/atheist route but I always knew I had a calling somewhere. Finding was the problem.

Deep down, it was obvious that the elements were seeking me out. I saw them everywhere and they certainly appealed to me. My first instinct was to research an oriental path. Looking through Taoism, Legalism, and Jainism, I finally thought I had found my purpose with Theravada Buddhism. After much reading and research, meditation, and neglecting of desire, it came to me that although the Buddha-Dharma has many merits, and certainly can be a faith for some, it just simply wasn’t for me either.

With the elements at my side, I began to research my heritage. Being from a Celtic/Germanic background, I knew there had to be something there that would explain it. I’ve known since I was young that nature was my ally. I gain strength and life when I visit her. My sight is more well defined in the moonlight than it ever has been during the day. I’ve read and researched, questioned and interviewed. I’ve sought out a path.

Then I found my goddess Artemis. Protector of the moon, the one thing in my life that I have always drawn strength from. The signs were always there. Even the number 28, the day I was born, symbolizes the moon in all her glory.

I do not have my path yet cleared, and my knowledge is still limited. I learn and grow everyday. Seeking any help that I can get on my journey. But I have my true path, of that I am certain.
